Schools for Children in Gaza and Egypt
This is FAJR Global's education program. It runs free schools in Gaza for children whose schools were damaged or destroyed, and a free school in Cairo for Palestinian children displaced to Egypt.
Schools in Gaza
FAJR has opened three schools in Gaza. Each runs in shifts so one building can teach far more children, and each teaches hygiene and disease prevention and offers psychosocial support alongside lessons.
- FAJR Global School 1, Khan Younis: opened in December 2025 for about 1,420 students in Grades 1 to 8, with eight classrooms and three shifts a day.
- FAJR Global School 2, Tal Al-Hawa: opened in December 2025, north of Gaza City, for about 1,500 students in Grades 1 to 12, also in three shifts.
- FAJR Global School 3, Al-Nasr: completed in September 2026, north of Gaza City, for about 1,420 learners in Grades 1 to 8, at a total cost of $155,545.76.
For the 2025 to 2026 school year, FAJR gave out 3,000 school bags at Schools 1 and 2 and 2,330 learning kits for younger students. The cost of supplies should not keep a child at home.
The plan is up to 30 field schools across Gaza. Each has eight classrooms, water and sanitation facilities and a room for psychosocial support, and teaches roughly 1,500 to 1,680 students over three shifts. FAJR opens them one at a time as donations come in.
A school for Palestinian children in Cairo
In Egypt, many displaced Palestinian families cannot enroll their children in public school, and paid schools are out of reach. FAJR taught about 550 students in person in the 2025 to 2026 school year. In 2026 to 2027, the school teaches 800 students aged 6 to 17, from Grade 1 to Grade 11: 358 girls and 442 boys in 27 classes over three daily shifts.
The teachers are from Gaza, with an average of more than 12 years of classroom experience there before the war. Through a partnership with AVA Academy in the United States, students will receive an internationally accredited certificate. The school has also created 38 jobs for Palestinians in Egypt.
Projects and campaigns
The Gaza schools sit under the Gaza Field Schools project and are funded by Build a School in Gaza, where $40 gives a child a term of schooling. The Cairo school is the Egypt Schools Project, funded by School for Palestinian Children in Cairo, where $350 sponsors one student for the school year.
This program is part of FAJR Scientific, FAJR's area of work for research, education and publications.
