After years of war, many Syrian patients are living with conditions that were diagnosed long ago and never treated, such as joints that need replacing and hearts that need intervention. FAJR Global's Syria medical mission brings volunteer orthopedic and cardiac interventional teams together to operate on them.
The need
Syria's health system is still recovering. The 2026 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan estimates that 12.8 million people need health assistance, and only 57% of hospitals and 30% of primary health care centres were fully functional in 2025 (Syria HNRP 2026). Complex procedures such as joint replacements and cardiac interventions are among the hardest treatments to access.
How the mission works
FAJR's mission brings volunteer orthopedic and cardiac teams together for a concentrated period of complex operating: joint replacements and cardiac procedures for patients who have gone years without access to care. The most recent mission took place in September 2026. Every clinician volunteers their time. Donations cover implants, catheters, medication and theatre costs, so that patients who have waited years can finally have their operation.
Clinicians who want to join a FAJR mission can reach the team through Get Involved.
What your gift provides
$100 covers medication and post-operative care. $500 goes toward an implant for one joint replacement. $1,000 goes toward one patient's cardiac procedure, and $2,500 toward one patient's complete surgery.

Campaign updates
Every gift on this page turns into food on a plate within days. A gift of $9 funds one nutritious meal for a displaced family in Gaza. Your support is going straight to food, the transport to move it, and the teams distributing it with dignity.
A look at how a meal comes together: chicken prepared and seasoned in bulk, then cooked in large pots before being packed into trays and delivered while still warm. This is the same shift-based kitchen shown in the campaign photos.

Distribution is underway across displacement shelters in Gaza, reaching families who often cannot get to a market safely. Each parcel and hot meal is delivered by teams working directly where people are sheltering.
