West Bank Medical Mission: Knee & Hip Surgery

FAJR Global's West Bank medical mission brings volunteer orthopedic surgeons in pediatric and sports medicine together with arthroplasty specialists focused on knee and hip replacements. They operate alongside local surgeons for patients who have waited years.

The need

Specialist surgery in the West Bank is limited by capacity rather than need, and the waiting lists reflect this, particularly in orthopedics. Movement restrictions make it harder still for patients to reach specialist care: WHO estimates that 2.9 million people in the occupied Palestinian territory need humanitarian health assistance in 2026 (WHO, 2026).

How the mission works

During a concentrated mission, FAJR's volunteer surgeons work in theatre with West Bank surgeons, from children's orthopedics to knee and hip replacements. The training that happens in theatre stays with the hospital after the team leaves. Every clinician volunteers their time. Donations cover implants, instruments and medication, and make it possible for the missions to return to the same hospitals year after year.

Clinicians who want to join a FAJR mission can reach the team through Get Involved.

What your gift provides

$100 covers medication and post-operative care. $250 buys surgical instruments and consumables for one operation. $500 goes toward an implant for one knee or hip replacement, and $1,500 toward one patient's complete surgery.

Thank you for keeping this campaign moving

Every gift on this page turns into food on a plate within days. A gift of $9 funds one nutritious meal for a displaced family in Gaza. Your support is going straight to food, the transport to move it, and the teams distributing it with dignity.

Inside the community kitchen

A look at how a meal comes together: chicken prepared and seasoned in bulk, then cooked in large pots before being packed into trays and delivered while still warm. This is the same shift-based kitchen shown in the campaign photos.

Meals reaching families across Gaza

Distribution is underway across displacement shelters in Gaza, reaching families who often cannot get to a market safely. Each parcel and hot meal is delivered by teams working directly where people are sheltering.
