Results

This project brings mental health care to children in Gaza. Its next step is a FAJR mental health center in Gaza, established and run for 12 months, where children and caregivers can receive psychosocial support, assessment and psychiatric consultation. The center works with the school counselors and teachers FAJR trains with the Ministry of Education: on October 11, 2026, 24 school counselors and teacher supervisors completed the first phase of that training.

The project builds on FAJR’s needs assessment of 1,505 children and adolescents in Gaza, carried out between April and June 2026, and on FAJR’s 205-page MHPSS manual, now being adapted into Arabic. It is led by Dr. Mariam Aboukar, FAJR’s Chair of Mental Health, and is part of the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support program. To support it, give to A Mental Health Center for Gaza’s Children.
