Research and Medical Education in Gaza
FAJR Global's clinicians study what war does to health, and they train the people who will treat patients long after the emergency. Both kinds of work are part of this program.
Research
Between 2022 and 2025, the FAJR Global Research Collaborative published 51 peer-reviewed papers, in journals including The Lancet, Lancet Infectious Diseases and the British Journal of Anaesthesia. Topics include trauma in the Gaza war, infections under siege, pediatric medical evacuations and the ethics of research in conflict zones. Read them on the Publications page.
A study of the mental health of Gaza's children is planned. It will document the psychological cost of the war and guide FAJR's mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) work.
Training in Gaza
The war closed universities and hospitals in Gaza, and with them the places where health workers learn by doing. In 2026, FAJR ran three training projects:
- Medical students: from July 11 to August 20, 2026, FAJR and the Samir Foundation trained 686 medical students in clinical and surgical skills: 404 in their third year and 282 in their sixth. Training ran over 44 sessions and about 176 hours.
- School first aid: from June 23 to July 4, 2026, FAJR trained 100 school health coordinators from 50 government schools in first aid and emergency response, and gave each one a first aid kit.
- School counselors: in October 2026, FAJR's U.S.-based mental health team trained 24 school counselors and teacher supervisors in psychosocial support in the classroom. Read about the training.

This work sits under the Research and Medical Education project, with the planned Mental Health of Gaza Children Research. To support it, give to Medical Research and Training in Conflict Zones: $50 buys training materials for one medical trainee, and $100 funds a day of hands-on clinical training.
