Gaza's surgical capacity has been reduced to a fraction of what its population needs. FAJR Global's specialized surgery hospital in Gaza is built to take the cases that cannot wait, and every operation is free of charge to the patient.
The surgical gap in Gaza
In March 2026, only 19 of Gaza's 36 hospitals were even partially functional, according to the World Health Organization, and none was working at full capacity (WHO, March 2026). Specialties that were already stretched before the war, including orthopedics, reconstruction and complex trauma care, are now under the greatest strain. Medicines and surgical supplies are also scarce: Gaza's Ministry of Health reported that 46% of essential medicines and 66% of medical consumables were at zero stock in March 2026 (WHO flash update, March 2026).
What FAJR's hospital does
The hospital delivers comprehensive care across surgical specialties, aimed at urgent and complex needs, all free of charge. Donations fund operating theatres, equipment and the clinical teams who staff them, so that a patient's ability to pay never decides whether they are operated on.
FAJR is a doctor-led organization. Its volunteer surgeons have worked in Gaza's hospitals during the war, including the team that reattached nine-year-old Mariam's hand at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah. Read her story.
What your gift provides
$50 buys medication for one patient's recovery. $200 goes toward one patient's operation, and $500 toward a complex reconstructive surgery. $2,000 helps fund a day of theatre time and staff.
Questions about this campaign
Is the surgery really free for patients?
Yes. Every patient FAJR treats is treated free of charge. Donations cover the full cost of care.
Can I pay my Zakat to this campaign?
Yes. Surgery for patients who cannot afford it is a recognized use of Zakat. Every FAJR campaign is Zakat-eligible. Read more on our Zakat page.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. FAJR Global is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Tax ID (EIN) 83-1497239, and your gift is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. You receive a tax receipt by email.
Can I give without online fees?
Yes. Online payments carry a 3% card processing fee and a 1% platform processing fee. Give by Zelle to donate@fajr.org or by check payable to FAJR GLOBAL and the full amount reaches the work. How to give without fees.
Campaign updates
Every gift on this page turns into food on a plate within days. A gift of $9 funds one nutritious meal for a displaced family in Gaza. Your support is going straight to food, the transport to move it, and the teams distributing it with dignity.
A look at how a meal comes together: chicken prepared and seasoned in bulk, then cooked in large pots before being packed into trays and delivered while still warm. This is the same shift-based kitchen shown in the campaign photos.

Distribution is underway across displacement shelters in Gaza, reaching families who often cannot get to a market safely. Each parcel and hot meal is delivered by teams working directly where people are sheltering.
