Practical Tools for Psychosocial Support in the Classroom

On October 11, 2026, FAJR Global successfully completed its Teacher Training Program, Practical Tools for Psychosocial Support in the Classroom, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.

The training brought together 24 participants, including school counselors and teacher supervisors, for an in-person gathering at one of FAJR Global's locations in Gaza. The training itself was delivered online by FAJR Global's U.S.-based mental health team.

At the start of the program, FAJR Global's CEO, Dr. Mosab Nasser, welcomed the mental health team and participants alongside representatives from the Ministry of Health, highlighting the importance of collaboration in strengthening psychosocial support within educational settings.

The program was designed to equip education professionals with practical, evidence-informed tools to help teachers create psychologically supportive and safer classroom environments. Topics included teacher well-being, trauma and child development, emotional regulation, supportive classroom routines, managing challenging behaviors, transitions and disruptions, and practical strategies for supporting students experiencing emotional distress.

Building capacity through a Training-of-Trainers model

A key goal of the program is to establish a sustainable model for reaching schools. Following the training, participating school counselors and teacher supervisors will serve as trained facilitators, bringing these tools directly to schools and supporting teachers through a Training-of-Trainers (TOT) model. This approach allows the program to extend beyond the initial group of participants, building local capacity and enabling trained education professionals to support additional teachers and schools over time.

Developed by mental health and trauma experts

The training content was developed and delivered by a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, and nurse practitioners with expertise in trauma management and psychosocial support. The program draws on evidence-informed approaches, including principles from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Skills for Psychological Recovery (SPR), translating these approaches into practical strategies that can be applied in the classroom and within the scope of teachers' roles.

Through this collaboration, FAJR Global, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Health are working to strengthen the capacity of education professionals to support both teachers and students. By equipping educators with practical psychosocial support tools, the initiative aims to foster safer learning environments and contribute to more resilient school communities.
