I want to complete my treatment and walk on my own feet again.

Mona is a grandmother from Gaza who is receiving treatment in Egypt. This is her story, in her own words.

I was injured on March 23, 2024. I remember being transferred from a Palestinian ambulance to an Egyptian ambulance. That was the beginning of a treatment journey I am still living through.

I spent around ten months in the hospital and underwent three surgeries on my leg. Shrapnel from the injury caused severe damage, leaving a gap of about six centimeters in the bone. FAJR Global took on my case and is supporting my continued treatment in Egypt.

Being away from my family has been one of the hardest parts. Two of my grandchildren were born while I was in Egypt. I only know them through a phone screen.

They tell me, “Grandma, we’ll wait for you at the crossing.”

I want to complete my treatment and walk on my own feet again. Then I can return to Gaza, see my family, and finally hold my grandchildren.
