Hamza’s Story: Brought From Gaza to Jordan

Hamza loved climbing until a drone fragment hit him in Gaza on August 1, 2025. FAJR Global reached him and brought him to Jordan for surgery.

FAJR’s leadership on Our TeamI love climbing so much. Sometimes I feel like Tarzan in the jungle.
Hamza is a boy from Gaza who loves to climb. This is his story, in his own words.
I used to climb our couch at home, the trees along Gaza’s streets, and anything high I could find. I imagined myself leaping from place to place on big adventures.
Sometimes my mom got upset. She was scared I would fall and get hurt. But I just laughed and went back to climbing.
Climbing made me happier than anything. I felt fast and light, as if the whole world were one big playground where I could go anywhere.
I wanted to grow up, get stronger, and become even better at climbing. But then…
On August 1, 2025, everything changed.
I was near our home when something came flying from far away, very fast, and hit me in the stomach. It was a fragment of an explosive bullet, fired by a quadcopter drone.
In one moment, I went from a boy who never stopped moving to a boy moving between pain and hospitals.
I started hearing words I had never heard before. Doctors, surgeries, and tubes were all around me, all the time. My injury was so serious that the doctors had to put a tube in my stomach so I could go to the bathroom.
One small piece of metal took away the things I loved most: running, climbing, and moving without fear or pain.
For a long time in Gaza, I lived in pain and exhaustion, until FAJR Global was able to reach me and bring me to Jordan for the special care and surgeries I needed.
Now, whenever I see a tree or something high, I remember who I was before.
I hope one day I can climb again, without pain and without fear.
Hamza is receiving care in Jordan after FAJR Global reached him in Gaza and brought him there for the surgeries he needed.
