Keep Palestinian Children Learning in Egypt

According to the Palestinian Embassy in Cairo, around 16,000 Palestinian students are currently living in Egypt, many after prolonged disruption to their education in Gaza. For displaced families, continuing their children’s education can be difficult. Residency and documentation requirements can create barriers to public-school enrollment, while paid alternatives add another expense to families already managing rent, food, healthcare, transportation, and daily life after displacement.

FAJR Global’s education response was shaped by continued needs assessment and feedback from displaced Palestinian families in Egypt. Parents shared that online learning did not effectively meet their children’s educational needs, highlighting the importance of moving from online learning to face-to-face education in a structured, supportive classroom environment.

A school that keeps growing

During the 2025–2026 academic year, FAJR Global provided free, in-person education to approximately 550 Palestinian students. As needs assessment continued and demand grew, the program expanded to reach 800 Palestinian students in 2026–2027, ages 6–17, from Grade 1 through Grade 11.

Today, 358 girls and 442 boys learn across 27 classes and three daily shifts. The three-shift model allows the program to accommodate more students within the available learning space and resources. Students receive comprehensive education across the full range of school subjects, along with free books and learning materials. The program also provides transportation support to approximately 200–300 of the most vulnerable students, helping remove another barrier to regular attendance.

Teachers who understand

Students learn with carefully selected Palestinian teachers who share their language, culture, and educational background and understand the realities of displacement and interrupted schooling. With an average of more than 12 years of teaching experience in schools in the Gaza Strip before the war, they bring extensive classroom experience and familiarity with the students’ previous learning environment. The program combines the Palestinian curriculum with modern, student-centered teaching approaches that encourage participation, critical thinking, and active engagement.

In partnership with AVA Academy in the United States, students will receive an internationally accredited educational certificate issued by the academy, helping them enroll in future educational programs and continue their academic pathway. Teachers also receive specialized training, while educational supervision and pre- and post-assessments help identify learning gaps, guide instruction, and measure student progress.

Beyond the classroom

The school also provides psychosocial support through a dedicated specialist to address behavioral and emotional challenges that may affect students’ learning, adjustment, and well-being. The program has also created 38 employment opportunities for Palestinians in Egypt across teaching, administration, and psychosocial support roles, extending its impact beyond the classroom and into the wider displaced Palestinian community.

With additional funding, FAJR Global aims to provide sports activities for 200 students, including access to sports facilities and specialized coaches, supporting their physical, emotional, and social development alongside their education.

Your donation can keep a student learning

The total cost of operating the school for the 2026–2027 academic year is approximately $272,000.

For families already paying for rent, food, healthcare, transportation, and daily life after displacement, free education removes a major financial burden. Your support helps keep this educational opportunity completely free while sustaining the teachers, classrooms, books, learning materials, educational supervision, psychosocial support, transportation assistance, and other services students rely on.

  • $40 to support one student for one month.
  • $350 to sponsor one student for the academic year, contributing to a complete, free educational opportunity.
  • $10,000 to sponsor one class for one shift for the academic year.
  • $22,500 to sponsor one classroom space across all three daily shifts for the academic year, allowing the same space to serve multiple groups of students throughout the day.

Today, FAJR Global provides free education to 800 Palestinian students out of an estimated 16,000 Palestinian students living in Egypt, approximately 5% of the Palestinian student population in the country. With your support, we can sustain this opportunity for enrolled students and create opportunities for more displaced Palestinian children in Egypt to access free, high-quality, face-to-face education.

With additional funding, FAJR Global also plans to offer a summer program in June, July, and August 2027, providing educational, recreational, sports, and developmental activities in a safe, structured environment.

Sponsor a student. Support a classroom. Help keep displaced Palestinian children learning in Egypt.
